Fixing Hastings & Rye: A policy book focusing on improving coastal communities.
There is a growing feeling throughout the country that nothing works. This feeling is helping fuel the growth of populism, whilst also increasing disengagement from the political system entirely. The purpose of this book is to use the constituency of Hastings & Rye as a case study to highlight the main challenges that are creating this sense of failure. The book highlights how big the problems we face are and how tinkering around the edges is unlikely to produce the change people are increasingly demanding.
Each chapter concludes by stating the action that would be required to fully address a specific policy problem. It demonstrates how the biggest challenges our society faces do not have simple, easy answers and require extensive intervention to fix.
This book specifically focuses on the most challenging policy problems that most affect coastal communities and focuses very much on the biggest challenges affecting the Hastings & Rye constituency.
